Health Professions Advising Center
The Health Professions Advising Center is available for all Cal Poly students interested in health professions, regardless of their major. It is staffed by two full-time staff advisors who are available on a walk-in and appointment basis to help students with all aspects of their academic and career pursuits.Pre-health professions students can:
- Receive help with creating a timeline through application.
- Receive assistance with selecting the appropriate prerequisite coursework for professional school, including whether to use Advanced Placement (AP) credit in lieu of college level prerequisite coursework.
- Receive guidance on obtaining applied experiences (such as community service, health-related and overseas studies).
Get assistance with all aspects of the application process including:
- Advice on how to prepare for and whether or not to repeat entrance exams.
- Guidance and critiques on writing the personal statement essay.
- Guidance and critiques on interviewing skills.
- Guidance and critiques on choosing authors for letters of recommendation/evaluation.
